These pre paid credit cards really are a good idea aren’t they? I mean, you can get one for your teenager and know that not only have they got money only they can use, but also it will teach them about credit and the importance of spending only what you can afford…

The reason they’re good for teenagers is primarily that they are the only credit cards that under 18s can get there hands on anyway. There are others that are aimed at the adult market for all those who cannot get a regular credit card or for various reasons want to budget their money a little better. Having a credit card like this can open a world of opportunity for the young credit card owner, and some of these prepaid credit cards will even allow you to use them online for things such as online purchases and gambling!

The Cashplus Gold Card is a prepaid credit card in the UK that carries the Mastercard brand, and actually offers purchase protection insurance too. So there you have a pre paid card that is well worth an adult owning. Many of the pre paid credit cards are also widely accepted abroad, simply beause of the new Mastercard branding that many of them carry these days.

If you are bad with credit cards then you are probably already in debt. If you’re not in debt already then you’re probably well on your way to it if you’re bad with credit cards…

Well, don’t get too far in over your head. If you are seriously thinking that you won’t be able to meet your payments at the end of the month then you need to consider getting rid of the credit card in question. In fact you need to get rid of all your credit cards!

You might scream out that you need it to live, you need to do your shopping with it because you don’t like to carry cash around, and various other excuses why you must hang onto this lifeline that will ironically be the death of you (at least financially). But don’t despair because if you need to be taken away from credit cards steadily so as not to suffer too many withdrawal symptoms there is help at hand.

You can get pre-paid credit cards now, and they are pretty good. All you do is put your credit onto the card before you spend it. That way it will still feel like you have a credit card, and you can still remain cash free, yet you will not be allowed to spend over what is on your credit card. This is an ideal purchase for many people, but in particular it’s a good way to teach young people how to use credit sensibly.

Several students in the UK are beginning to use prepaid credit cards when they go abroad or take a year off from university. These students have stated that it is the perfect way to travel without worrying about income. They have the money to load the cards, but they do not have to carry cash that could be stolen.

The best part about the prepaid cards is the lack of interest fees like a regular credit card. The owners of the prepaid cards load them up with smaller fees for the transfer. There are some transaction fees depending on where the card is used, but overall they are a cheaper option for these students. The card holders also find it useful for being abroad when they do not want to have a lot of cash on hand. It allows for stress free travel, in other words.

One card being offered is the Global Traveller. This card has a higher balance than regular prepaid cards. It allows the consumer to take more money with them on their travels without worry that they will run out. The limit can be up to 5000 pounds. The card can also be recharged in any country the individual visits.

The card is not only for students, but for anyone who wants to feel safe while travelling. Prepaid cards work in a different manner. They are more like debit cards.

The person uses the card and an amount is deducted from what is on the card, rather than accruing. It is also easier to get a prepaid card for individuals who may have a shady credit history with arrears. Many use prepaid cards to help rebuild their credit. There are numerous prepaid cards on the market for consumers to choose from, thus getting better fees.

KNOW THE BASICS OF YOUR PRE PAID CREDIT CARD

Planning on getting a pre paid credit card? Since these cards do not necessarily require that you have good credit scores, they are easily acquired and may not require too much paperwork from your end.

Most of the time all you will be needing would be just your basic information for identification, a social security number and of course, the initial amount that will be deposited into your pre paid credit card account. The minimum amount of initial deposit as well as the balance to maintain your account may vary from one credit card company to the next. However, there may also be fees for opening and activating an account and this could go as high as $30. The good news though is that many companies also allow you to open and activate a pre paid credit card account for no cost at all.

If you are a parent thinking of getting a pre paid credit card extension for a kid away at college, there are also several offers that can be availed of, but do not forget to check on the fees as well. When making a choice of which pre paid card to acquire be careful to check the fees that go along with it. Most of the time companies may charge a maintenance fee that could go as high as $10 every month.

Find out as well if charges will be imposed for your transactions. On occasion making a deposit into your account may also cost you although many pre paid credit card companies do allow their card holders to have their paychecks automatically or electronically deposited into their prepaid accounts. Know what is being offered by each of the pre paid cards that are available to you and choose which one works best to your advantage. It is important to read carefully the terms and conditions that go along with your card’s application and usage before signing up.

There are several reasons why owning a pre paid credit card is an advantage. While it may not necessarily help build your credit score, it can help build financial discipline. This is because unlike your usual credit card these pre paid credit cards will not allow you to spend more than what has been deposited into the account. If you have bad spending habits and you have the tendency to accumulate credit card debts, then it this may provide you a better alternative.

Besides, owning a pre paid credit card is much like credit cards. Aside from allowing card owners the convenience of making purchases in just about anywhere and everywhere credit cards are accepted, including making online purchases, many of these pre paid cards also allow you to accumulate rewards points when your purchases reach a certain minimum amount. In order to entice clients they may also offer other promotions and discounts at certain stores. If the promotions and discounts of a certain card work to your advantage, then perhaps, this is a card that you should consider having.
