There are some distinct advantages to paying for things with a credit card. If people pay for a service or buy goods with a credit card and there is a problem with the charge the Consumer Credit Act could help resolve the problem.
A case in point was a recent item that had to be replaced. The quote for the job of replacing a part in a door was given at two hundred and fifty pounds. The company that did the work was given the O.K. to fix the problem. However, when the credit card statement arrived the amount had grown substantially. The cost had risen to sixteen hundred and fifty pounds.
Since the service was paid for by credit card the Consumer Credit Act was able to help the customer get a refund for the higher charge. The law in the UK states that buyers can claim reimbursement charges from the credit card issuer and the retailer if there was a breach of contract.
So if anyone is going to be making purchases where something of this nature could be a problem, paying with a credit card makes sense so that there is a possibility of protection.
