Students and Credit Cards

Parents of students that are going off to university for the first time may worry that their student could get into debt with credit cards.  There is a way to help with this.  It is called a prepaid credit card.  This type of credit card allows students to have a credit card that they can learn to use responsibly without incurring large amounts of debt.

The prepaid credit card is pre-loaded with an amount very similar to mobile phone minutes.  Once the amount of money on the credit card has been used it must be reloaded before the student can use it again.  This type of credit card gives both parents and students that may be worried about over spending a sense of security.

Another offering from banks is the 0% credit card.  The credit card offers 0% interest; however, it can be for only a limited amount of time.  Very often this type of credit card has an introductory rate for a period of around six months.  It would allow students to repay the credit card debt off in a timelier manner because they are not paying interest charges.  Although there aren’t as many credit card offers as there once were it is still possible to find a good choice for students.
