Now that spring it finally here and all the flowers are coming out in the garden, it’s time for you to think about all that garden furniture you wanted. Not only that, isn’t it also time that the kids had some new toys to play with in the garden this summer? What about that climbing frame you’ve always promised them? Or perhaps a set of swings?

Well this is why you need to find a credit card that can match your sunny weather desires. Finding the credit card for the job shouldn’t be difficultm, but finding one that won’t cost you the earth might be a little more difficult. It’s all about the interest rates these days and that’s what you need to keep your eye on in the long run of course, however you also need to watch out for the special offers out there that could be enormously useful to you.

You could get yourself a credit card that allows you interest free on all your purchases for a specific amount of time. This is very handy if you want all that garden stuff right away and you can’t afford to wait to enjoy the summer. Of course you have to pay it back, but you don’t have to do it for a long time, and you’ll still have time to pay it off before you need the card again at Christmas. So if you’re not going away this year, make sure you have a nice summer at home instead with your credit card.

There are plenty of new, fancy looking credit cards out there on the market today, so let’s see if we can make anything from them and see which of them are all glitz and glamour, and which of them do exactly what you need them to do; provide credit with a reasonable interest rate and nice rewards…

It couldn’t be simpler could it? Wrong! There are way too many credit cards out there today, so we can only really look at a few. Let’s start with the Virgin credit card. Virgin are leading the way in so many areas of business and development these days there is little wonder that they’ve managed to corner the market on credit cards too. They boast the UKs number one balance transfer credit card, offering their 0% for a massive 16 months! So this must be worth transferring to them mustn’t it? There are travel, insurance and wine rewards available on this card, and they also offer 3 months interest free on all purchases too! They really don’t come much better than this do they?

However there are a few pitfalls to look out for here, and one of them is the last point i made as a pro. 3 months interest free on purchases is good if you have the money to pay the card company back all you owe them before this time is expired, but if you struggle alittle with money then you might want to think again about taking the risk of spending too much money!

There are loads of credit cards out there offering great deals on balance transfers. They’ll tell you that it’s 0% interest for 6 months on your balance transfers or something very similar to this. Well don’t always be fooled by this, there is something else to consider…

You need to consider that after this 6 months honeymoon period (as i like to call it) you will attract the lender’s original interest rate. So this is something you need to consider even if you are only trying to buy a little time by transferring your balance; this is what they look for. Some credit card companies prey on people who can’t manage their money too well.

Now i’m not sure what the regular interest rate is at the moment, but there is usually an average. I won’t go into it now or even look it up because you could be reading this post in the future sometime and the rate will be different. And the word “average” is average because they is something lower and something higher than it. This is what you need to look at. If you can find a lower interest rate you certainly need to consider it, but pay special attention to what other benefits the card will offer; there is no point in getting a card because it has a low interest rate alone. And if you find a card with a higher interest rate, then you’ll know that the benefits on this one have to be very good indeed to make you want to pay over the average. Consider what you doing when you compare prices.
